How To Clean Your Home With Vinegar?

Green cleaning using natural ingredients has been extremely popular over the last couple of years. People love the idea of saving money, avoiding toxic or harsh chemicals, and using ingredients that are environmentally-friendly.

We can all agree on one thing – vinegar is the number one natural ingredients to use when cleaning your home. It’s safe to use on almost every surface in your home, it cleans and disinfects, and it’s very powerful. But if you are new to the whole “green cleaning” movement then you need to know a few things in order to incorporate vinegar in your cleaning routine!

How To Deal With The Smell?

Now, the first thing I want to cover is the smell – some people don’t mind it while others absolutely hate it. I know that I despise the smell of vinegar ever since I was little. But that hasn’t stopped me from using it! I have found a very creative way to deal with the scent – I infuse vinegar with herbs and lemon/ orange peels.

How do I do that? I simply fill a mason jar with vinegar and I place different herbs in there. I also add the peels of an orange and a lemon then I close the lid and allow the vinegar to infuse for about a week or two.

Then, once my infused vinegar is ready, I remove the peels and the herbs and I pour it in a spray bottle!

So if you can’t stand the smell you can still use it – just do what I do!

What To Clean With Vinegar?

Now that I told you how I make my own infused vinegar it’s time to tell you what I clean in my home.

– Windows

You can clean your windows with vinegar. All you need to do is dilute it with water.

– My dishwasher

All I do to clean and disinfect my dishwasher is place a cup of my infused vinegar on the top rack then I run a hot cycle!

– Everything else!

Yes, vinegar is the perfect all-purpose cleaner. I love using it to remove dust from surfaces, clean my sinks, my toilet, the bathtub, the showerhead, etc. Basically, everything!

The only thing you need to be careful with and never clean with vinegar is marble/ granite countertops as well as stone floor tiles!
