You have to deep clean your sofa – and this does not include the vacuuming you perform once a week. Yes, it does help in reducing the impurities and dirt that penetrate deep into the fabric, however, the vacuum cleaner is only capable of removing what is sitting on top of the surface – and from time to time, you need to get deeper.
Thankfully, this chore is not as challenging and as difficult as you think. And the best part is that you don’t need any fancy cleaners – just a few natural ingredients which will leave excellent results.
How I Deep Clean My Sofa With Natural Ingredients?
Of course, the first step in the cleaning process is vacuuming the surface so it’s ready for the actual deep cleaning. You need to remove all impurities, debris, and chunks of chips from last night!
Then it’s time to make your own upholstery cleaner. Mix a cup of warm water with 1/4 cup of natural liquid soap. Grab your electric mixer and start to mix the ingredients until you create a thick foam.
Dip a brush in the cleaner and gently rub your sofa with it – I recommend you treat small areas at a time rather than try to cover the entire sofa. As you rub, you will notice that dirt and impurities start to lift out of the fabric and mix into the foam – which is very satisfying. Make sure you remove the foam once you are done with a certain area with a spatula.
Once you have covered the entire sofa, dampen a cloth and rinse the sofa with it so you remove the soapy residue and the impurities. Leave it all to air-dry.
If you aren’t 100% satisfied with the results, go ahead and repeat everything once or twice more because if the sofa hasn’t been cleaned in a long time chances are that it’s super dirty and might need more attention.
